Starting Signal 1966
It all started on 8 March 1966 with the founding meeting of the “Alpjoch-Imst-Lift Ges.m.b.H.”. The meeting was attended by around 150 personalities from the town of Imst. On 10 December 1967 the whole of Imst celebrated the opening of the single-seater chairlift to the Untermarkter Alm. On 15 February 1971 the upper section to the Alpjoch went into full operation.
further investments follow
In the summer of 1986, the Imster Bergbahnen invested in the construction of the Malchbach lift and the electric lighting for the natural toboggan run. The double chairlift to the UAlm provided faithful service from its construction in 1991 until the renewal of the lift facilities in September 2021. The double chairlift to the Alpjoch, which the Imster Bergbahnen acquired second-hand in 1995, was in operation until the end of the 2020/21 winter season.
THE Alpine Coaster
The construction of the Alpine Coaster Imst in 2003 marks a special milestone in the history of Hoch-Imst. So far, more than 2 million guests (August 2020) have whizzed down the 3.5 kilometers long all-season toboggan run. In 2017, the track of the longest Alpine coaster in the world was equipped with a 450-degree gyroscope as the latest attraction. In 2015, the opening of the fun park completed the current range of slopes.
the Modernisation is promoted
By investing in a modernisation of the snowmaking facilities, a high-performance snow production was secured, and the time required for this was significantly reduced. The completion of the Galtbergbach reservoir lake with a capacity of around 62,000m³ took place in time before the start of winter 2016/2017.
NEW CONSTRUCTION IN 2021
The new construction of the cable cars in 2021 marks the most recent event in the history of Imster Bergbahnen. Despite a valid operating permit and concession, the chairlift facilities in Hoch-Imst had reached the end of their operating cycle. With the construction and completion of two modern 10-seater monocable lifts, Hoch-Imst now offers comfortable, barrier-free and family-friendly transport for skiers, snowboarders, tobogganers and pedestrians.
